‘No bribe, no treatment’: 12-yr-old boy’s family raises allegations against govt hospital in Idukki

Idukki: Rajesh, a person hailing from Ernakulam’s Kadavoor raised serious allegations against Thodupuzha Taulk Hospital here on Sunday.

According to Rajesh, a doctor there demanded Rs 5,000 for treating his 12-year-old son. Rajesh had no money and had to take back the child who was injured in the hand after falling from a cycle.

The family rushed the boy to the casualty. The first doctor that they meet was cooperative, but the other doctor they meet after taking X-Ray demanded Rs 5,000 for treatment. Rajesh reportedly said that he has no money. Then the doctor allegedly told the family to take the boy somewhere else.

The boy’s mother claimed that the doctor even barred the nurse from giving first-aid to the boy.
