Thiruvalla: Kochi native Adv. Biju Noel has approached the First Class Judicial Magistrate Court here on Wednesday with a plea demanding action against minister Saji Cheriyan over his anti-constitutional remarks. The advocate had lodged a complaint with the SHO of Keezhvaipur Police Station against the minister’s anti-Constitution remarks. However, the police didn't take any action yet.

Noel in his plea has pointed out that the police have not taken any action even 15 hours after registering the complaint. No FIR has been registered over the complaint, the plea said. The petitioner has urged the court to intervene and direct the police to take action.

This comes at a time when the minister informed that he has no plans to resign over the remarks. Meanwhile, CPM leaders including CM Pinarayi Vijayan and CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan convened a meeting to take stock of the situation. It is learnt that the regime is pondering over whether resignation can be averted. The matter is deliberated by examining all the layers of the issue including the intervention of the court.
