Nipah fear relieves; Restrictions to end on June 12


Kozhikode: The restrictions imposed on public programs and educational institutions will not be extended as the Nipah virus outbreak has been tackled. Collector U V Jose announced that all educational institutions including professional colleges will start functioning from 12.

The restrictions on public programs in the regions affected by Nipah will be removed. Observing the people in the contact list will continue. 2649 people are under observation in the district.

Nipah virus wasn’t detected in 7 people who were admitted in the hospital earlier. The test results of 277 people out of 295 were negative.

Two individuals who were treated for Nipah have recovered completely. They will be allowed to leave the hospital only after the evaluation of the specialist teams.

The central teams are evaluating the regions affected by Nipah. The teams trying to find the source of Nipah and prevention are still working. The collector has said that yet another individual was arrested for spreading fake messages on the social media.

Dr. R L Saritha, DMO Dr. V Vijayasree, Medical College Superintendent Dr. K G Sajith Kumar participated in the press conference which was held after the Nipah evaluation meeting at Government Guest House.

All-party meeting tomorrow

All-party meeting will be held in the collectorate on Sunday 11 AM. People’s representatives and party representatives will attend the meeting.
