Health Minister Veena George is rushing to Kozhikode. The minister is expected to meet the media after having a meeting with experts. The central team is also arriving in Kozhikode today. All those who were in contact with the child are under observation.

Police have barricaded the road leading to the area and the health staff who treated the child at the hospital are also under observation.

The Nipah virus was first reported in Perambra Changaroth panchayath in May 2018. Although the virus was again confirmed in Kochi in 2019, it was soon brought under control.
