Nilambur murder: Shaibin is an intellignet criminal, he made Rs 300 cr in 10 years, say police

Nilambur: Shaibin, the mastermind in the kidnap and murder of Mysuru local medic Shaba Sherif (60) is an intelligent criminal, police said. He planned every step thoroughly. His former friends have revealed many of his shady dealings and the investigation into those are progrssing, they said.

Shaibin, who introduces himself as an overseas businessman, made a whopping Rs 300 crore in 10 years, police said. His house in Nilambur was bought for Rs 2 cr.

The financial dealings led to the fight between Shaibin and his associates.

The friends who revealed the murder to the police say Shaibin did not pay the amount he initially offered before the murder. Sultan Bathery natives Salim, Sakeer, Noushad, Nishad and Cyrus were accused of looting Rs 7 lakh from Shaibin after detaining him at his house.

On April 30, the gang pulled off a drama in front of the state secretariat by pouring petrol over themselves. They were crying for police attention. They told police that Shaibin forced them to do several illegal activities including murder. They also waved a pen drive at the police.

Shabha Sharif was detained for almost a year and brutally beaten by Shaibin to get details of his ‘secret medicine’ for haemorrhoids.

The investigation into the murder will be challenging for the police as the body was dumped in the river one and a half years ago. The challenge will be to collect the body parts and link the murder to Shaibin. The police are now planning to collect as much circumstantial evidences as possible. The digital evidence, including the video, and the statement of his former friends will be helpful to prove the case, police believe.

A team including Nilambur DySP and a special branch DySP has been formed to investigate the case. An SP will oversee the probe.
