Kochi / New Delhi: Three Al-Qaeda terrorists were nabbed in a raid conducted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Perumbavoor here. All of them are migrant workers and were working in Mudikkal in Perumbavoor. NIA arrested them after surrounding their house on Friday night.
The raid in Perumbavoor was held as part of the raids in 11 different places in the country. A total of 9 persons were arrested all over the country. NIA carried out raid in Perumbavoor with the help of State Anti-Terrorism Squad.
The NIA team conducted raid in two places in Perumbavoor on the basis of the information received from Murshidabad in West Bengal. They are being interrogated presently.
According to reports, those who are in custody were living in Mudikkal along with their families. One of them has been working in a textile shop in Perumbavoor. They have been staying in Perumbavoor for a long time.
The arrested have connections with Pakistan based Al-Qaeda terror group, according to the NIA. It is learnt that they were planning to conduct terrorist activities including bomb blast in Delhi and premises and various places in the country.
The team had visited many places in order to raise fund, it is learnt. Those who were arrested from Kerala were trying to collect money. The NIA sources said that investigation in this regard is taking place in some other South Indian states too.
