Revised toll charges

Paliyekkara: The National Highways Authority of India announced on Sunday that the toll rates on Mannuthi-Edappally National Highway will be increased by about Rs 5 to Rs 30. Paliyekkara toll plaza will have this revised toll rate from September 1 onwards.

The annual revision of toll rates, under the control of the NHAI, is based on the wholesale price index. There will be no change in the toll rates of local vehicles which were earlier allowed to travel freely. The pass can be renewed by paying a monthly fee of Rs 150 for vehicles within a radius of 10 km and Rs 300 for vehicles within a radius of 20 km.

Revised toll charges

There are allegations that the company which is increasing the toll rates has not addressed the basic inadequacies like incomplete and improper service roads, drainage, rest areas, bus bays etc and the increase comes in the wake of these allegations.

The preparation of DPR for making the Thrissur-Angamaly National Highway into 6 lane road is also progressing.
