Thiruvananthapuram: A ganja mafia attacked police and damaged their vehicle at Nellikkunnu near Kuttichal in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday morning An officer who sustained injuries was hospitalised.

The Neyyar police arrived at the location in the wee hours of Friday following a secret tip about the drug dealings in the area.

The gang threw a petrol bomb at the police and attacked the vehicle with weapons. CPO Tino Joseph sustained injuries. He was moved to a nearby hospital. A few houses also were damaged during the operation.

More police arrived at the location. Search for the attackers is on. Police believe they escaped into the forest.
