Newborn baby found buried in Kottayam, migrant couple taken into police custody: Reports

Kottayam: A body of a newborn baby was found buried at a plot in the Ullala region, Vaikom here on Thursday. According to reports, the baby is of a woman hailing from New Delhi.

Locals claimed that woman was four-month pregnant. She on the other day night reportedly delivered the baby. The baby was not alive. The woman’s partner allegedly buried the body nearby plot after packing the baby on a plastic cover, said reports.

The police came to know about the incident after an ASHA worker intimated the matter. The couple has been taken into police custody.

It is learnt that the exhumation will happen on Friday after the completion of the required formalities.
