Pathanamthitta: In a distressing incident, a one-day-old baby boy was found abandoned in a deserted plot belonging to George, a resident of Thayyil village in Kaviyoor, Thiruvalla, on Thursday morning.

Reni, a resident of the area, was startled by the sound of a baby crying at approximately 5:30 am. When Reni searched the area she eventually found the baby. Reni alerted the nearby neighbours and contacted the nearest police station. The newborn was immediately shifted to the childcare wing of Thiruvalla Taluk Hospital for medical attention and care. The hospital staff confirmed that the child's health condition is satisfactory.

Police infer that the parents might have abandoned the baby boy soon after birth. Even the umbilical cord and placenta had not been completely removed from the child. Police have launched an investigation to find out the parents.
