Thiruvananthapuram: SCERT has advocated a common curriculum devoted to environmental studies for the training program of school teachers. This recommendation was made in the Draft Approach Paper prepared for the revision of the school curriculum.

According to the draft approach paper, common syllabus for environmental awareness must be introduced. Environmental studies must be included in training courses for teachers.

Health and sports education will be included in the syllabus for classes from pre-primary to higher secondary as part of curriculum revision to ensure a better lifestyle for students since sedentary diseases are on the rise. Apart from scientific training, yoga classes will also be included in the syllabus.

Counselling and guidance will be made available in schools. Counselling to overcome the mental distress caused by the epidemic and natural disasters will also be arranged.
