Whale bone seized by forest department, Monson Mavunkal

Kochi: The Forest Department has seized whale bones possessed by self-styled fake antique dealer Monson Mavunkal, who was arrested earlier in connection with various frauds in the pretext of antique deals.

Two whale bones had been spotted in his antique museum. However, just three days before Monson’s arrest, the whale bones were shifted from there.

It was marked in the inquest of the Crime Branch. Thereby, the flying squad of the forest department recovered the bones from a house at Kakkanad and registered a new case against Monson on Wildlife Protection Act. The forest department has decided to send the bones for examination soon.

The ivory tusk obtained earlier from Monson’s house at Kaloor was found to be fake. But the investigation team suspects that the whale bone might be original as it was moved from his house.

Meanwhile a POCSO case was also filed against Monson and his personal make-up man Joshy. The complainant has revealed that she was being raped by Monson since she was 17-years-old. Joshy was presented at a court on Sunday.
