Kochi: In a setback to former minster KT Jaleel, the Kerala High on Tuesday rejected the petition filed by him against the verdict pronounced by the Lokayukta over nepotism charges against him.
The division bench including Justice PB Suresh Kumar and Justice K Babu upheld the verdict of Lokayukta.
Jaleel, who was the Higher Education Minister, had on last Tuesday resigned from the post while the arguments in his petition was progressing.
In the order, Lokayukta had observed that Jaleel has no moral right to continue in office as he has misused his powers and indulged in nepotism.
Jaleel alleged in his petition that the final report of the Lokayukta was prepared without conducting even a preliminary probe and without following the procedures. The government also supported Jaleel’s claim.
But the court had rejected the demand to issue a stay on the Lokayukta verdict. Followig this, today, the court observed that there were no lapses on the part of Lokayukta and so the HC can’t intervene in its verdict.
