New Delhi: A ministers' delegation from Kerala was allegedly denied a meeting with union railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Thursday.

The Kerala ministers addressing media at Kerala House in New Delhi alleged the minister stepped back from the meeting planned for the day despite assuring them a meeting earlier.

Education Minister V Sivankutty, Transport Minister Antony Raju and Food Minister GR Anil were here to meet Vaishnaw to deliberate on the Nemom rail terminal project.

According to the ministers, the Kerala delegation had sought permission and Vaishnaw had agreed to meet. But when they arrived in Delhi and sought a convenient time slot, Vaishnaw reportedly backed out.

Sivankutty said the railway minister’s conduct was anti-democratic. “A complaint will be raised with the prime minister over this. The union and state governments should respect each other,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Kerala delegation met the minister of state for Railways, Darshana Jardosh, and Railway Board Chairman VK Tripathi. The delegation handed over an appeal raising concerns of the state on the Nemom terminal.
