Kochi: Former Minister and sitting MLA AC Moideen will not appear before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday in connection with the Karuvannur Cooperative bank scam case. In an email, Moideen informed the ED that he cannot appear for questioning today and tomorrow as he needs to attend an orientation class organised for MLAs. He arrived in the state capital today to attend the class.

On September 10, the ED questioned Moideen for over 10 hours. Once discrepancies were found between the documents submitted and the information received by the ED, another summons was sent.

Last month, ED conducted a raid at Moideen’s residence and found an investment amounting to Rs 28 lakh. ED also conducted a series of raids at the houses of people involved in the benami case on Monday and even after 24 hours, some raids are still ongoing.

The ED also conducted inspection of the Thrissur Service Cooperative bank which is chaired by M.K Kannan, former MLA and a member of the CPM state committee. The inspection at Ayanthol Cooperative bank will continue today.
