Kozhikode: Loktantrik Janata Dal state president and Rajya Sabha MP, Shreyams Kumar demanded immediate measures to ensure speedy punishment for those who assault and abuse women via social media.

During the present times, we witness how new age media reflects the deteriorating mental health. Social media is not a place where anyone can say anything and everything. Strict actions are required to control such actions, he opined.
Shreyams Kumar also demanded adequate amendments in laws to check mass attack in cyberspace. The IT Act, which was last amended 12 years back, should be modified to suit the need of the hour, he added.
More than trying to ensure punishment to the guilty, preventing the crime should be given more importance.
