Pinarayi Vijayan added that another NDRF team in Thrissur has been asked to immediately reach Idukki.

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan informed that a National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team was deployed at Rajamala in Idukki where a landslide occurred in heavy rains early on Friday.

According to latest reports, 5 persons were killed in the landslide at Pettimudi. 67 more are feared trapped inside the debris.

He informed that an NDRF team camping in Idukki was directed to engage in rescue operations at Rajamala. The Chief Minister added that another NDRF team in Thrissur has been asked to immediately reach Idukki.

Police, Fire Force, Forest and Revenue officials are also directed to speed up the rescue operations at Rajamala, he said.
