The party workers led by Saseendran ask if they should sacrifice the party just for Pala seat. If they join UDF, not even a single seat with chance of victory, is likely be given to them. Also chances of defeat are high if they join UDF with the sitting seats.

Kochi: In view of a split ahead of assembly polls, both factions of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) are increasing strength. The leaders are sure that Pala seat, in which Mani C Kappan is the MLA, is unlikely to be given to them again. The dispute in the party is regarding the stand to be taken, if Pala seat is not given.

The CPM evaluate that the arrival of Jose K Mani has made gains in central Kerala in local body election. LDF is likely to hand over Pala seat to Jose K Mani and give an alternate offer to NCP. CPM assume that a majority of NCP workers along with minister A K Saseendran will stay with LDF.

If a faction of NCP led by Mani C Kappan joins UDF, the central leadership of NCP is likely to support it. National president Sharad Pawar will support them. Then, state president T P Peethambaran Master, who always support the national leadership, also will have to support them.

The party workers led by Saseendran ask if they should sacrifice the party just for Pala seat. If they join UDF, not even a single seat with chance of victory, is likely be given to them. Also chances of defeat are high if they join UDF with the sitting seats.

Saseendran faction explains that leaving LDF when the government is likely to get a second term will be a wrong move. However, those who support Mani C Kappan allege that the CPM cheated them and so leaving LDF will be the right decision.
