Haripad: A case has been registered against Kuttanad MLA Thomas K Thomas and his wife Sherly Thomas for insulting a female Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader by calling her caste name. The case has been registered under the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The complaint was filed by NCP women’s wing district president Jisha.

The incident took place the other day at a party meeting at Haripad. At the meeting, Jisha asked why Sherly Thomas was attending the event. Following this, a verbal argument broke out between Jisha and Sherley. Party workers intervened and resolved the issue. Jisha filed the complaint after this. Kayamkulam DYSP is in charge of the investigation.

The MLA said a woman who attended the meeting tried to insult them and that they have filed a complaint with the district police chief.

Three months ago, the Alappuzha South police had registered a complaint against the MLA over a complaint, which stated that a woman leader was attacked and insulted at the party district committee office.
