Alappuzha: A leaked telephone conversation of Minister for Forests AK Saseendran has come to light proving he had intervened to compromise a sexual harassment case against an NCP leader.

Saseendran spoke with the father of the woman, who raised the sexual harassment complaint, and asked him to cooperate to “end the issue amicably.” The audio clip of the conversation has been leaked.

NCP leaders said that the minister called the father to settle the issue as the complaint was filed following an internal issue of the party. The accused is a state leader of NCP. The complainant is a BJP worker and her father is a local NCP leader.

The woman had contested in the previous local body elections. The issues with the alleged harasser started during that time. He harassed her on social media by sharing her pictures and also grabbed her hands after inviting her to the shop he owns in the town.

The woman filed a complaint with Kundara police on August 28. But they did not take any actions, the family said. Meanwhile, the minister intervened in the issue and contacted the complainant's family requesting to settle the case.
