NCP Kerala unit firm behind LDF government: Thomas Chandy
Thiruvananthapuram: NCP’s Kerala unit said that the party’s alliance with BJP in Maharashtra will not affect its alliance with LDF in the state.
NCP national secretary T. P. Peethambaran master demanded the party to take action against Ajit Pawar. Meanwhile, NCP Kerala president Thomas Chandy MLA said that the party will stand firm with the Pinarayi Vijayan led LDF government.
The surprise political move in Maharashtra caught NCP leaders in Kerala off guard. Many of them came to know of the NCP-BJP alliance through TV.
On learning about the move, T. P. Peethambaran master contacted Sharad Pawar. The former chief minister responded that the decision was taken without his knowledge. Peethambaran master demanded action against Ajit Pawar.
Meanwhile, Thomas Chandy MLA said that the NCP-BJP alliance in Maharashtra will not affect NCP’s alliance with the Left government in Kerala. Alleging that Congress was responsible for the political upset in Maharashtra, he also took jibes at Congress leaders including K. C. Venugopal.
NCP leader Mani C. Kappan MLA also condemned the move in Maharashtra.
Following the surprise political development, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan met NCP state president. NCP leaders assured the CM that they were firmly behind the LDF government.
There is dissent among the NCP leaders in Kerala over the party backing the Congress in the centre and LDF in the state.
