The car which overturned into the gorge
Thrissur: Cine-serial actress Anu Nair and friend Anjali had a narrow escape after the car in which they were travelling overturned into a 50 feet deep gorge near Pathadipallam on Athirappilly-Anamala Road here on Friday.
The incident happened around 3:30 PM. The duo was coming from Malakkappara to Chalakudy. The car hit the stone lying on the road and lost control. The vehicle plunged into a gorge and got stuck after hitting a tree.
A major mishap was averted due to the air bag inside the car. However, there was no onlookers on the road and the incident came to light only later. The car was 50 feet deep and the inmates of the car had a difficult time reaching the road.
The duo sought the help of tourists for help and got into their vehicle. They intimated the matter to Malakkappara forest station. The forest officials gave first aid and food. They also arranged a vehicle for their journey.
Reports said accidents are common on the stretch as roads remain unattended in the name of maintenance works.
