Rajakkad (Idukki): A farmer, who was riding a bike through Chinnakanal in Idukki, was attacked by a wild jumbo Chakkakomban here on Saturday. The victim, identified as Johnny, sustained injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the area.

The elephant attack took place around 8 am. Apparently, Johnny noticed the jumbo only after it advanced close at him. The animal attacked his bike using its trunk and Johnny, who fell down, had a narrow escape.

Following which, he was taken to the hospital by the locals who rushed to the area. Later, the jumbo was chased away into the forest by the forest officials and locals.

“Wild tusker Chakkakomban, which has been creating fear in the Chinnakanal, Poopara areas, attacked the farmer,” locals claimed.
