KP Narayanan Namboodiri
Kannur: To Narayanan Namboodiri, age is just a number. And so he proves as he goes running for kilometres every day even at the age of 69. On good days, he runs distances as long as 10 kilometres. He claims that he has once run 10 kilometres within 50 minutes.
It has been well over 40 years since he started running. He moved to Kolkata in 1972 and all of it started from there. He worked at a private company there and was deeply passionate about football. He joined Friends Sporting Club in Kolkata and spent his evenings playing football. Then he started running regularly. He shifted to Delhi in 1979 and moved back to Kerala six years back.
He has won the first position in 5,000 metres and 10,000 meters races in the Masters Athletic Meet held in 2020.
Narayanan Namboodiri says that strictly following a daily routine and a healthy mind is what motivates him to run. He is president of TTK Devaswom and also works as an anti-drug activist.
