Mystery looms over transporting UAE Consulate’s parcel in C-apt’s vehicle
Thiruvananthapuram: The dealings between UAE Consulate and Kerala government-owned Centre for Advanced Printing and Training (C-apt), under the chairmanship of Minister KT Jaleel, came under scanner for its alleged connection with the controversial gold smuggling case. It was reported that some parcels sent from the UAE Consulate were taken to Edappal in C-apt’s vehicle.
As per rules, C-apt has no permission to make direct contact with the consulates of other countries. Hence, the transportation of the parcel was found unlawful. It is learned that the parcel was taken in C-apt’s vehicle along with other publications.
On Thursday, Customs officials investigating the gold smuggling case recorded the statement of the C-apt officials who granted permission to take the parcel in the official vehicle. The probe team also collected the logbook of the vehicle.
Meanwhile, employees of C-apt who were not present when Customs officials arrived at the office, were directed to appear before them.
It is learned that C-apt was only assigned to transport the parcel to Edappal.
