Mystery continues over Malayali biker's disappearance
Kozhikode: The mystery surrounding the disappearance of biker Sandeep continued six days after he was reported missing.
A native of Kuttiyady, Sandeep went on a solo ride to Karnataka on his bike on Saturday. ASI Suresh Babu who is leading the investigation team said that the police are still searching for him in Karnataka. Sandeep’s wife Shiji had filed a missing complaint at the Nallalam police station in Kozhikode.
A marketing manager at a private media company in Kozhikode, Sandeep used to go on solo rides on his bike often. He had informed his family that he would return in two days.
His bike, bag, helmet and watch were recovered from the banks of Dunga river. There were traces of a tussle at the spot which added to the mystery. The police suspect that miscreants tried to rob his valuables.
Sandeep’s mobile phone was last active within the radius of a mobile tower in Jayapura area in Koppa. He had used his mobile phone until 12 pm on Saturday. He was on his UM Renegade Commando bike. The police are also checking the details of a call that came to Sandeep’s mobile phone from Bellari in Karnataka, days before he set off on the journey. Sandeep had also deactivated his Facebook account a few days back.
Sandeep was an active member in charity works at his native place. But recently he withdrew from all activities, said his friends. Sandeep has been living with his family at Palazhi for the last three years.
Sandeep’s wife said he had contacted her for the last time on Saturday afternoon. She filed a police complaint after he became unavailable over phone. The police have taken the help of Karnataka police and fire force but are yet to get any information on Sandeep.
