MVD initiates probe into YouTubers' car stunt in restricted area of Malampuzha Dam

Malampuzha: The Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) officials have initiated an investigation into the incident in which a new car was overturned amid racing and a video of the same was circulated on social media on the premises of Malampuzha dam.

The RTO officials visited the place inside the dam on Thursday and said that the illegal modification of the vehicle and using it for stunt is a violation of the law. Irrigation Executive Engineer D Anil Kumar said that a police complaint will be filed as the offenders entered the restricted area of the dam without permission.

The video was shot and circulated by four YouTubers from Thrissur who drove a car inside the dam in a dangerous way and intentionally overturned it. The video, which was shot in April, was circulated on social media on Tuesday.

The shooting took place in a restricted area of Malampuzha Dam area in April when the water receded and the area dried up. The team reached Malampuzha in two vehicles and had changed the tyre of the car to suit the stunts.

They drove the car in a dangerous way and tried to shoot the visuals from another car that was also overspeeding. It is said that the shooting continued even after the vehicle was overturned. Malampuzha police said they would take action after receiving a formal complaint from the Irrigation Department in charge of the dam.
