Kochi: Kerala Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) on Wednesday suspended the fitness certificate of a tourist bus used by the Kerala Blasters football team.
Earlier, a notice was issued to bus owners to produce buses before RTO. However, the owners failed to bring the bus to the RTO office or provide an explanation for their actions. Following this, RTO suspended the fitness certificate of the vehicle based on a report compiled by officials who inspected the bus.
The officials who inspected the bus found a large gap in the tyre, a broken rear view mirror, worn-out tyres, inadequate medicines in the first aid box and other issues.
On Saturday, Ernakulam RTO issued a notice to the bus owner for not following colour code mandated by the state government following the accident in Vadakkencherry. Following Blasters' last game in Kochi, RTO directed the owners to produce the bus for inspection. However, when they failed to comply with this demand, RTO officials conducted a surprise inspection and filed a report.
MVD asked the owners to remove the illegal designs imprinted on the body. The fitness certificate will be issued once it is removed.
