Motor Vehicle Department has slammed a heavy penalty on a motorbike rider who intentionally did not give way for a KSRTC bus for more than four kilometres. The video of the bike passenger, which went viral on social media, was also used as an evidence for the violation of law. The incident happened on September 26 at 1.30 pm.
The KSRTC bus was travelling from Kannur to Kasaragod. The bike came in front of the bus near Perumba and did not allow the bus to overtake for the next four kilometers. The man riding the bike did not heed to the requests made by the driver and the bus passengers.
Meanwhile, one of the passengers shot the video of the man riding bike on his mobile phone. Motor Vehicle Department took action immediately after they noticed the video on social media. MVD officers reached the man’s house after District Transport Officer filed a complaint.
A penalty of Rs 10,5000 was slammed on him for riding the bike dangerously and blocking the way of other vehicles. The action was taken by RTO (Enforcement) O Pramod Kumar, Motor Vehicle Inspector (Enforcement) PT Padmalal and Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector (Enforcement), Jijesh.
