MVD's clampdown drive at Pathanamthitta
Pathanamthitta: Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) has come up with ‘Operation Silence’ to clamp down on violators who use horns and alterations that are not legally permitted in vehicles. The operation kick-started on Monday in Stadium Junction here. Around five cases were registered and fines were imposed. It is learnt that the MVD will continue the drive for five days.
Notably, as part of the project, mobile numbers of Enforcement RTO and Nodal Officer are published, to which complaints about illegally altered vehicles can be intimated. People can even WhatsApp their complaints. If the scope of the project is expanded across the state, then those involved in violations will have a tough time.
Use of horns/ headlights that are not legally permitted and structural alterations including modifications to handlebars of motorcycles will attract fines. Not just that, the violators have to remove the illegal add-ons at their expense.
