MV Jayarajan to be appointed as CPM Kannur district secretary
Kannur: The CPM has decided to appoint M V Jayarajan as party’s Kannur district secretary as P Jayarajan, who presently holds the position, is contesting from Vadakara constituency in the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
M V Jayarajan, who is a state committee member of CPM, is currently serving as the private secretary of chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
When P Jayarajan was arrested in connection with Shukkoor murder case, M V Jayarajan served as the acting district secretary of the party. The new secretary will be selected within a few days.
M V Jayarajan is in the position next to the secretary in Kannur district committee of CPM. Even when all other state committee members from Kannur were removed from the district committee, party sustained M V Jayarajan.
Though his area of activity has been shifted to Thiruvananthapuram as the private secretary of the chief minister, M V Jayarajan was elected to the district committee in order make him the district secretary, if such a situation arose.
M V Jayarajan was appointed as the private secretary of the chief minister following criticism against the sluggish functioning of the office of the CM. It is indicated that the party is seeking some other means to resolve the limitations arising from removing Jayarajan from this position.
