Kannur: CPM Kannur district secretary MV Jayarajan asserted that the senior leader of Congress would not be left abandoned if he got expelled from Congress for attending the CPM seminar. Many of the Congress leaders have left the party and joined CPM recently and their experience suggests the same, he added.
The seminar in which KV Thomas was invited is based on secularism, which is a topic with utmost national significance. Six Congress leaders were invited for the particular seminar and KV Thomas has not denied his participation.
By conveying his hope that KV Thomas will respond positively to the invitation of CPM, Jayarajan condemned KPCC president K Sudhakaran as a person who had earlier waited for a chance to join BJP. He said that KV Thomas cannot be compared to Sudhakaran in any sense. Jayarajan pointed out that the ban imposed by the KPCC president to participate in the CPM seminar has been a nonsensical remark and KV Thomas can easily understand that Sudhakaran’s stance was taken in favour of BJP.
Jayarajan said that the Congress party is experiencing a tussle between a group which aims to lead the party in the path of secularism upholding the legacy of Gandhiji and Nehru and the other which wants to pursue the ideology of Godse. He opined that KV Thomas, who upholds the Gandhian principles and secular values, could not stay away from a seminar like this.
All details about the seminar has been sent to KV Thomas. Jayarajan stated that KV Thomas has never compromised in favour of communalism and the controversies erupted by the ban of KPCC president to attend the seminar has only helped increase the popularity of it.
