Thiruvananthapuram: CPM state secretary MV Govindan here on Sunday rubbished the allegations against Thiruvananthapuram Mayor Arya Rajendran over a controversial letter regarding backdoor appointments. Govindan stated that the mayor had confirmed to the party that she did not write a letter to the CPM Thiruvananthapuram secretary seeking a list of candidates for temporary vacancies in the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation. The mayor herself said the letter is fake, Govindan said in a press conference here on Sunday.
“The party does not have the system of backdoor appointments for recruiting CPM members to vacant posts. Then, how will this happen? The CPM district secretary has also said that he didn’t receive the letter,” said Govindan.
“There is a huge campaign against the CPM on this issue. Let them investigate and find those who wrote the letter. The CPM has nothing to hide,” he added.
Govindan also rejected the BJP’s allegation that the mayor is missing.
“Mayor is on her way to Thiruvananthapuram from Kozhikode. BJP will change their stance once the mayor appears before them,” he said.
