MV Govindan, Police arrest Youth Congress activists for waving black flag against CM

Kochi: Amidst Congress-led protests against the Kerala Budget 2023-24, CPM state secretary MV Govindan and chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan held a meeting on Saturday morning.

Later, speaking to the media, Govindan assured that the criticisms raised against the budget recommendations would be discussed in the party committee.

He charged the union government with denying funds essential for the state's development. Union government attempts to suffocate Kerala, he said.

Pressure on the government escalated when the opposition strengthened protests by waving black flags against the ministers. Protesters blocked ministers’ vehicles at many locations and staged demonstrations in front of the chief minister’s guest house in Kochi. Police removed the Youth Congress activists who arrived with black flags and recorded their arrests.
