MV Govindan
New Delhi: CPM state secretary MV Govindan is likely to be elected to the Politburo. It has been hinted that a final decision will transpire at the three-day central committee meeting that commenced on Saturday in Delhi. The official announcement may come up on Monday.
MV Govindan will be considered for the vacancy that arose after Kodiyeri Balakrishnan's demise. Out of the 17 members of Politburo, four delegates are from the Kerala faction. The other leaders from Kerala are Pinarayi Vijayan, MA Baby, and M Vijayaraghavan.
Though the names of CPM leaders, including EP Jayarajan, Thomas Isaac, AK Balan, PK Sreemathi and KK Shailaja were also suggested to Politburo, the CPM state secretary has more weightage.
