Thiruvananthapuram: CPM state secretary MV Govindan slammed former minister and CPI MLA E Chandrasekharan for his remark on a case related to alleged BJP attack against him. In the assembly, E Chandrasekharan said that the accused in the case in connection with an attack of RSS and BJP activists against him during an election victory celebration, were released after the CPM witnesses turned hostile.
CPM state secretary backed the comment of MLA KP Kunhammed Kutty who said that the accused were acquitted as all witnesses gave the similar statement of not being able to identify the assailants. The CPI district secretary and E Chandrasekharan had also stated that they did not know the attackers, added MV Govindan. He said that not only CPM workers, but also CPI activists turned hostile in the case against BJP workers.
The opposition had applauded when E Chandrasekharan MLA accused CPM witnesses for the acquittal of assailants in the case.
MV Govindan said that the assembly had to be adjourned due to the obstinance of opposition to not discuss any matters of public interest. He also accused the opposition for conducting a parallel meeting, disrupting the proceedings of assembly.
