Muvattupuzha: The due amount of the loan taken by Ajesh of Muvattupuzha has been cleared by the Co-operative Employees Union, affiliated with CITU, said the chairman of the Urban Bank.

Earlier, the bank officials had attached the property of Ajesh, a heart patient, leaving his four children on the road. Ajesh was admitted to the hospital when the officials attached the property.

Later on the day, a group of people led by MLA Mathew Kuzhalnadan broke the lock and entered the house in protest. Mathew had also said that he would arrange the money to close the loan.

CPM state committee member and bank president Gopi Kottamurikkal said that he had ordered to return the keys when he realised the situation of Ajesh. He claimed that the locals did not inform the officials that he was admitted to the hospital when they arrived to attach the property. Gopi also alleged that the MLA politicised the matter that could have been amicably settled.
