Muvattupuzha eviction: Ajesh declines help of bank employees

Muvattupuzha: Ajesh, who has been struggling to repay the loan he availed from Urban Cooperative Bank due to his heart trouble, has now declined the help from the Left trade union members. Ajesh's house was attached by the bank employees, reportedly following a court order, leaving his children on the road. He was admitted to the hospital when the eviction happened.

Amidst growing criticism, the employees union affiliated with CITU paid the dues and closed the loan, informed the bank chairman Gopi Kottamurikkal, who is also a CPM state committee member. Ajesh has declined their help and said if they wanted to help, they could have done it earlier.

MLA Mathew Kuzhalnadan had smashed open the house on the day it was attached. He had also offered to close the loan. Gopi had accused the MLA of politicising the matter which could have been amicably settled. He said that the bank officials were not aware of the condition of Ajesh at the time of the action.
