Thiruvananthapuram: The forest department has transferred the official who turned whistleblower in the controversial Muttil tree felling case. Vinod Kumar, the official who was serving as Kannur CCF has been transferred to Kollam as social forestry conservator.
Meanwhile, NT Sojan the official who is facing allegations in the tree felling case got transferred to a major post in the department.
Kannur CCF DK Vinod Kumar is the IFS official who has taken a strong stance in the tree felling case. He was the first official to report the attempts to subvert the Muttil tree felling case and frame a fake case. He also disclosed NT Sajan’s involvement in the case.
As per the rule, the decision of the Civil Service Board must be considered while shifting an official from a post within 2 years. But the forest department transferred Vinod Kumar without adhering to this rule.
At the same time, NT Sajan who was serving as conservator has been shifted to the post of the chief conservator. He got appointed in Kollam as the head of the southern circle.
Earlier, he was shifted to Kollam social forestry from Kozhikode after facing allegations in the case.
During the departmental inquiry, he was found guilty in the case.
