The protest by tearing the order in front of the secretariat
Thiruvananthapuram: Protests have arisen against Principal Secretary of Revenue Department Jayathilak who took vengeful action against the lady officer in connection with the Muttil tree felling controversy. The Secretariat Action Council protested against the cancellation of the Under Secretary's Good Service entry, after she replied to a query filed as per the Right to Information Act in the tree felling controversy.
The Action Council demanded that the order denying the Good Service entry should be withdrawn and burned the same in the protest that took place in front of the North Gate. The reprisals began with the transfer of the officials, who were members of the Action Council, from the Secretariat. Police had denied permission for the protest in front of the Cantonment Gate saying that the Chief Minister's programme was going to be held there.
Former Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala addressed the protesters. He scoffed at Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Revenue Minister K Rajan who claimed that they were unaware of the retaliatory action against the official. Chennithala also asked who is ruling the state. The action council came out in protest, fearing that such retaliation could continue.
