Kozhikode: ADGP S Sreejith, who leads a special investigation team probing the Muttil Tree Felling case, returned the preliminary investigation report submitted as asking to rectify errors in it. Citing his dissatisfaction over the report, he demanded a detailed probe against all the accused in the case. The report submitted to ADGP only names range officers Ranjith and Baburaj as the accused in the case.

Earlier, the government had formed a special investigation team and ordered a detailed probe. Following this, a preliminary report was submitted to the ADGP. However, S Sreejith pointed out that the report was incomplete and incorrectly recorded even the designation of the officers.

Shameer, a range officer was the one who initiated a probe into the case. However, the accused had alleged that Shameer was also involved in felling the trees in Manikunnu hill. However, the forest department had made it clear that this land was private property.

Though these allegations were included in the report, no investigations were taken from the part of the team. These irregularities were pointed out by ADGP while ordering for a fresh probe into the case.
