Kozhikode: Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) expelled former state secretary KS Hamsa from the party. Panakkad Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal issued the order based on the recommendation of the IUML disciplinary committee.

The action against Hamsa was taken prior to the Muslim League state council meeting to elect the new office-bearers on Saturday.

It has been hinted that the disciplinary action has been taken citing Hamsa’s move to approach the court in connection with the convening of the state council meeting. Hamsa accused the party of convening state council without summoning the district council meets. The state council meeting which was scheduled on March 4 was postponed to March 18 when KS Hamsa filed a petition at Kozhikode Munsif Court.

Hamsa was earlier removed from his duties as state secretary after criticising PK Kunhalikutty at the working committee.
