Murugan’s death: Health officials inspect 3 hospitals in Kollam
Kollam: Health Department officials have initiated an inquiry in hospitals at Kollam in connection with the death of Tamil Nadu native Murugan.
Reports say Murugan died after he was denied treatment at three hospitals.
A team headed by the Director of Health Department visited three hospitals namely Medicity Hospital, Meditrina Hospital and Azeezia Hospital which allegedly denied him treatment. The officials recorded the statement of doctors and employees.
47-year-old Murugan, a daily wage worker from Tamil Nadu was seriously injured in a road accident and died on Monday following denial of treatment by various hospitals in Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram.
As the incident turned controversial, the health minister ordered to appoint a medical personnel.
Murugan, succumbed to his injuries in the ambulance after the hospitals denied treatment for seven hours. Expressing regret over the incident, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had apologised to Murugan’s family in the assembly on Thursday.
Health Minister K K Shylaja declared that government would not support anyone involved in the incident. She informed that strict action will take against the hospitals after the departmental inquiry.
