Cherthala: The police have recorded the arrest of six RSS activists in connection with the murder of a plus two student here.
The student, Ananthu (17) of Pattanakkad was killed during a temple festival on Wednesday night.
A total of nine persons, including three minors, were taken into custody in connection with the incident. However, police could not record the arrest of three students under the Juvenile Act. A report in this regard will be submitted at the Juvenile Court.
The arrest of RSS workers Athul, Sangeeth, Ananthu, Rahul, Harikrishnan and Midhun have been recorded.
The accused, who are lodged at Cherthala police station, will be presented in court.
Police say a dispute between students over a trivial issue ended up in the murder.
Ananthu and three minor students in police custody had an altercation at school. Police had resolved the matter then by summoning them to police station.
However, the accused then hatched a plan to attack him.
In the meanwhile, they met Ananthu on the premises of a temple at Pattanakkad during the festival.
Further, they dragged him to a nearby paddy field and thrashed him brutally.
The LDF and Congress are observing a hartal in Alappuzha district on Friday to protest the incident.
Meanwhile, sources say the incident is not a political murder.
