Thiruvananthapuram: A man has been hacked to death inside his house here. Amboori native Selvamuthu (52) was found dead in his house with severe slash wounds on his head and neck. His wife Sumalatha has been taken into custody by Neyyar Dam police.
The incident came to light on Saturday morning. Sumalatha had told her neighbours that Selvamuthu, a tapping worker, had suffered injuries from a fall while working. When the neighbours suspected something fishy, they inspected Selvamuthu’s body and found slash wounds over his head and neck. They informed the Neyyar Dam police about the matter.
The couple has three children. Eldest son Jibin is staying in Bengaluru. Their second son Jithu, who is an autistic child, and their youngest son four-year-old Jino were at the house during the incident.
The villagers said that Sumalatha is a mentally challenged woman and that family disputes were a common thing at their house. The police opined that Sumalatha must be questioned for clarity on the matter. Fingerprint experts and the forensic team arrived at the house to collect evidence.
