Kochi: Ahead of the final hearing and the pronouncement of the verdict in his bail plea in the conspiracy case, actor Dileep has approached HC with a new petition. He now wants the state to stop the further probe in the 2017 actor sexual assault case. He also asked the court to end the trial fast and discard the new probe report.
The further enquiry was conducted without following the due procedure. Therefore, the report has to be nullified and complete the trial soon, he demanded through the petition.
The trial court had ordered to complete the reinvestigation within a month and submit the report over the actress assault case on March 1. Even though the prosecution requested six more months to finish the reinvestigation, the trial court denied the demand. The court also noted that conducting reprobe into a cognisable case is the power entitled to the investigation officer.
As the court has granted one month for the further probe, the trial of the actor assault case may also delay. It is at this juncture, Dileep approached the High court demanding to cease the probe and end the trial fast.
