Munnar: On a controversial note, Udumbanchola MLA and former electricity minister MM Mani gave go-ahead to CPM-led Munnar Service Cooperative Bank to proceed with the construction works of an amusement park. This is despite a revenue department’s stop memo against the construction works of the park adjacent to Muthirapuzha river here.

According to MM Mani, the construction works should be pursued and no botheration should be given to objections. MLA also issued a quick to-do list for the cooperative society. “This cannot be seized, let anyone try. That’s it. The construction will be resumed, even if somebody restricts it,” he said.

Earlier, a Congress leader had approached Kerala High Court against the construction. His plea cited that the cooperative society did not possess the revenue department’s 'No Objection Certificate' (NOC).

The court had directed the revenue department to intimate its stand on NOC. The revenue department maintained that NOC cannot be issued. Citing the same, the district collector issued a stop memo against the construction works.

MM Mani's remarks come at this juncture. It may be specifically noted that the revenue department is headed by the CPI minister. CPI-CPM tussle angle is suspected in the matter.
