Munambam case not human trafficking, but illegal immigration, says police
Kochi: The police probe has found that the Munambam case is not that of human trafficking but of illegal immigration. Sri Lankan native Srikanthan has been named the prime accused and his LTTE links are being probed, said IG Vijay Sakre.
In a search conducted at Srikanthan’s house, five Sri Lankan passports and other documents were found. There are five key culprits in the case. One of them is in India. The search for him has been widened, IG added.
The police investigation had found that majority of the people who went from Munambam had Sri Lankan links. They had reached here from Tamil Nadu and Delhi. Around hundred people had set off on the journey from Munambam on January 12.
