Multiple driving licenses can be merged into one by paying fine
Those who have more than one driving license can merge into one by paying a fine. This facility is available in the 'Sarathi' software for services related to driving license. Those who obtained license from other states also can shift their license to the current state using this facility.
If they have more than one valid licenses here, then it can also be merged into one. The fee for merging the licenses is Rs 460. The applicant need to apply along with the licenses and address proof.
As there are chances of producing fake licenses, the driving licenses issued in northeast states, including Assam, were not allowed to be shifted to Kerala. With this, many people used to abandon their old licenses and take new ones here.
Majority of the abandoned licenses are of transport vehicles. With the new facility, they can be regained. Those who have heavy license in Assam can be shifted to the state now.
Apart from this, there are many people who have obtained more than one licenses. Some people obtain new license from other districts using a temporary address when their original license is cancelled as part of disciplinary action.
'Sarathi' has blacklisted the license obtained using temporary address. They also can pay the fine and avoid further actions on the matter with the new initiative.
