Thiruvananthapuram: The e-file system of the state government shows that the file of tree felling in Mullaperiyar Baby dam reached the water resources department on May 23. The file was forwarded from the forest department.

The water resource department held several meetings chaired by T K Jose, the Additional Chief Secretary of the department. However, minister Roshy Augustine maintained that the department was unaware of the move. He had stated in the Assembly that no meeting was held on November 1 to allow tree felling.

T K Jose and Chief Wildlife Warden Bennichan Thomas attended the meeting on September 15. Another meeting on inter-state river water resources was held on October 17. The order to fell the trees was issued based on these meetings, Bennichan explained to the government.
